Yellow Warbler Dendroica petechia
Yellow Warbler
Dendroica petechia
The Yellow Warbler has one of the widest ranges of distribution, nesting from the Artic Circle to Mexico. It can be found in thickets and undergrowth near water as well as second growth woodlands and forest edges.
It is frequently parasitized by Brown Headed Cowbirds. Although, it is one of the few birds that recognizes cowbird activity, it will often build a nest over an existing nest that is parasited. In one observed case, five layers of floor were built in an infested nest.
