Sora Porzana Carolina
The Sora is a member of the rail family breeding in freshwater marshes, nesting in the dense vegetation, such as cattails and is known to forage in salt water habitats in winter time.
Feeding mostly on the seeds of smartweeds, sedges, grasses and marsh plants it also eats snails and insects.
It is widespread and common, although it is declining with the ongoing loss of freshwater marshes.
