Ruddy Turnstone Arenaria interpres

This short legged sandpiper nests in the open or concealed among the rocks in the high Artic tundra of North America and Eurasia and winters along the coastlines of the U.S., South America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Western Europe.

Its foraging method of inserting its bill under shells and stones flipping them over for insects, crustaceans and spiders thus gives it its name.
