Pied-billed Grebe
Podilymbus podiceps
Although not having webbed feet as most ducks, the Pied-billed Grebe has lobes extending out on the sides of its toes providing extra surface for paddling. A small diving bird, hunting mainly small fish insects and other aquatic life, it nests anchored within the heavy marsh vegetation of ponds, lakes and marshes across North America.
