Gray Catbird Dumetella carolinensis
Gray Catbird Dumetella carolinensis
Generally considered a plain gray bird with a black cap it also has reddish to chestnut under tail coverts and actually can be quite impressive. It has an odd variety of rambling mix of musical and harsh sounds, often containing imitations of other bird’s songs.
Favoring dense low growth thickets, shrubby swamps and overgrown brushy fields, it forages on the ground flipping leaves for insects, and also has many types of berries in its diet.
